WHAT DO I STAND TO LEARN?

There is increasing recognition that impact measurement and management which relies solely on quantitative methods tends to miss vital information.

Accounts of project experience, first person narratives and varied perspectives are fundamental to both prove and improve impact. Qualitative methods help to uncover, probe and truly understand the details required to foster meaningful changes in people’s lives.

Thandiwe Ng'ombe and Itago Winnie, from Genesis Analytics Kenya, will lead this three-hour interactive session to explore the objectives, benefits and practicalities of employing qualitative methods in evaluation.

Participants will be led through types of qualitative data collection techniques, which enable meaningful participation by local communities. Finally, we will do a walk-through of a computer-assisted analysis tool called Dedoose and provide an overview of creative methods to present strong and effective qualitative data visualizations.
